Escape In Paradise

Design Brief

The Villa explores the relationship between public and private space.

This villa was designed with plenty of large spaces of private and public living areas. Energy saving materials were used to reduce the costs of heat and cool the villa throughout the seasons of the year particularly on extremely hot and extremely cold days and nights.

Design Inspiration

A parent’s quarter is located in the upper level and is designed as a separate dwelling. The parent’s retreat combined private indoor and outdoor spaces with seamless transitions to provide a private and relaxing escape for the parents without being disturbed.

Habitable spaces have been clustered on a single level, providing easy circulation should the clients have limited mobility in the later stages of their lives.

Sustainability and Flexibility

The villa is designed to satisfy different family requirements over its life including:

  1. Parent retreat/home office,
  2. kids play area and sleeping quarters,
  3. short and long term accommodation for elderly relatives,
  4. separate living quarters for older children,
  5. A separate quarter that can be rented out or used for older children after they marry.
